Cats and Dogs On The Go

Taking the pet on vacation become more and more thing of norm. Those who experienced it before, know that some early arrangements and considerations  need to be done, if you really want your family and your furry family members to enjoy the time together.

Here is a list of to do you should keep, especially now when the holidays around the corner,

You’re planing on going visit the family  this  holiday (or any other vacation) , with your kitty or pooch,  so before leaving:

  • Pet carrier. If you fly, make sure to call your airline carrier to found out the requirements for pet carriers. Most airlines require the pet carrier to be small enough to fit under your chair. Only one pet allowed in cabin.
  1. Pet carrier for cats – If you’re going on a long trip the carrier needs to be big enough so you can put water in a travel bowl and litter.
  2. Pet carrier for dogs – should have enough room for your pooch to stand or  lie down comfortably, have water and maybe his preferred toy and some food or treats.
  3. Good option is to use Soft-Sided Collapsible Pet Crate/Carrier

Dogs and cats Need a place to sleep – bring a travel bed or  pillow / blanket that way they feel more secure and calm.

Do they need medications? Don’t forget to have enough medications for your journey. It’s bad idea to skip the medications.

If your staying in a hotel – do not forget to check if they accept pets.

Air travel – Your pet needs to be 8 month or older in order to fly with you. Also,  air lines require a certificate of veterinary inspection (health certificate) and ensure that all required vaccinations are up-to-date. It should be issued within 10 days prior to travel.

Try booking the shortest travel (non-stop) , give your pet enough time to do his thing before boarding, and place him  in a crate yourself. If he is flying in cabin with you, board the plane as late as you can.

You are flying or going by car -  be sure your pet is wearing an ID tag your cell phone number. Good idea is to have the pet photo. It can assist with identification in case your pet is lost.
