Oral Health For Dogs and Cats
Do you brush your teeth every day…i hope you do. Do you brush your dog or cat teeth? If you do not, then it’s time you start do so.
Why? Because about 70% of cats and 80% of dogs have dental disease by age 2. The reason is plaque and tartar buildup that if not removed can lead to gingivitis that cause pain and gum inflammation, teeth lost and infections of other organs in the body.
The easiest way avoiding it is by brushing your pet’s teeth regularly. You can find cats and dog toothbrushes and toothpaste for just few dollars. Do not use human toothpaste on your pet!!
Some factors that contribute to oral health.
AGE – more common in older pets
BREED – since small dogs sometimes have overcrowded teeth, it’s hard to keep them clean. Ask your vet for advice on how to keep them clean and healthy.
FOOD – sticky food leads to more rapid buildup of plaque. You’ll find in pet stores treats that help clean the plaque and are tasty for your dog. Dental dog toys can also help with cleaning dog teeth.
If pet teeth are in bad condition, your vet will do the cleaning under anesthesia, and it’s not cheap. So start brushing and buy your pooch or kitty new toy with the vet cleaning money instead.

As long as you are gentle they’ll let you do that after a while. Now you can get toothpaste in flavors they like so the tooth brushing much easier.
I knew about caring for dog teeth, but had never considered trying to brush my cats’ teeth. Shame on me, a person who is constantly trying to educate cat caretakers that their feline friends need just as much care as canine companions! Good info! (Though I continue to assert that some of my diabolical felines would as soon eat my face as let me brush their teeth.)

I think you should ask your vet this question. Just read a vet article saying that giving your dog frozen chicken wing do the trick too and they love it. I tried giving my Libbie one and she just love it. I don’t know about her teeth though.
I never knew that I needed to brush my dogs’ teeth. I was always told that feeding them dry dog food was the best thing that could be done for them. Why has my vet never mentioned this?

same as humans, puppies and cats must also take good care of their oral health… coz if we ignore it, it may lead to a more serious health problem not just on their mouth but in other parts of the body.
