Pet carriers have a functional use, but at the same time, they can also be a fashion statement. There are endless carriers out there. Different shapes. color, prints, size, material, designer, cheap etc. So before diving into the pet carrier sea ask yourself:

You can bring your crate or cat carrier on a flight if it fits under the chair in-front of you. Remember always to check with your airline carrier what are the rules they have regarding pets in cabin.
For toy and small dogs the options are unlimited. Open top, tote, backpacks or pet strollers, front carrier and purse style pet carriers. Again, it’s important to measure your pet and read carefully the product description. All the above are good for vet visits or just storming the streets. For travel, crate or dog carrier luggage style would be a better choice. The same goes for flying with your pet. Choose a little bigger size for comfort and for food, water, the preferred toy and blanket.

For both, cats and dog, it’s important to get familiar with the carrier ahead of time. Leave the carrier open in your house. Put some treats and toys inside. Let Fido and kitty go in and out for few days. When they feel safe inside, close it and take a short walk, even if it’s only in the house. Talk to your pet and let him/her feel good.
